How it works
Three steps, no account, no upload to a third party.
The browser checks the type and the 15 MB cap before anything is sent.
A local parser reads the catalog, tag tree, bookmarks, fonts, forms and image alt entries for the level you chose.
Errors, warnings and notes are grouped by category, each with a one-line fix for Acrobat or Word.
FAQ & limits
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
It is parsed on this server and the temporary copy is deleted before the response is returned. No third-party API ever sees the file.
Which levels can I pick?
Basic covers language, title, bookmarks and document info; PDF/UA adds tagging, image alt text, tables and reading order; Strict adds Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA extras such as form tooltips, embedded fonts and metadata.
Does it OCR scanned documents?
No. A scan without a text layer or tag tree is reported as an error telling you to OCR it first; the remaining structural items are still evaluated.
What about encrypted or huge files?
Password-protected PDFs cannot be inspected and are reported as FAIL (could not verify). Limits are 15 MB and 200 pages per file; larger files are rejected with a clear message.
Is this a substitute for a full audit?
No. It checks machine-verifiable structure, not meaning, reading quality or contrast. Anything that cannot be confirmed is flagged as a warning and should be reviewed by hand.
