How it works
Drop in a title from your draft, CMS or style sheet. Nothing is sent anywhere.
British, Chicago, AP, MLA or sentence case, plus the small-word, acronym and hyphen switches.
Check the stat line and the rule list, then hit Copy title and paste it straight back into your CMS.
Which style should I choose?
Each style lowercases a different set of small words — the list is printed under the result every time.
Guardian / UK book style: lowercase the 23 short words (a, an, the, and, of, in, with…) unless they open or close the title.
CMOS: articles, coordinating conjunctions and prepositions stay lowercase; first and last words are always capitalised.
Associated Press: only words of three letters or fewer stay lowercase, so from, with and over are capitalised.
Articles, prepositions and coordinating conjunctions stay lowercase regardless of length; the first word of a subtitle is capitalised.
Only the first word of each sentence is capitalised — the rest is lowercased, acronyms aside.
Every single word capitalised, small words included. Useful for short labels and headings.
FAQ
Is my text stored or sent anywhere?
No. The conversion is a few lines of JavaScript running in your browser, so your headline never leaves the tab — there is no upload, no account and no API call.
Why does AI stay AI but ai becomes Ai?
Acronym preservation only fires when the token is already all-caps (or contains digits, like COVID-19). Lowercase input like ai is treated as an ordinary word, so it comes out as Ai — turn the toggle off to re-case acronyms deliberately.
What counts as a small word?
Short articles, conjunctions and prepositions: a, an, and, as, at, but, by, for, from, in, into, nor, of, on, onto, or, over, the, to, up, via, with, yet — the exact list in use is listed under the result.
How long can the input be?
Up to 20,000 characters, which is far more than any headline. Longer pastes get a friendly notice instead of a silently truncated result.
Do the first and last words get special treatment?
Yes, in every style except sentence case and simple: a title never starts or ends on a lowercase small word.
Can I use it for UK or US English?
Yes. The British option follows Guardian / UK book practice and AP, Chicago and MLA cover US publications — the casing rules are identical for either.
