Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Every step runs in your browser: the file is decoded, drawn onto an offscreen canvas and re-encoded locally. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is stored.
Which formats can I use?
Input: JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 25 MB each. Output: JPEG, PNG or WebP. GIF, SVG and HEIC files are rejected with an inline message — HEIC photos should be exported as JPEG first.
What does "max long edge" mean?
The longest side of the photo becomes the number you enter and the other side scales to match, so a 4000×3000 photo with a 1200 px long edge becomes 1200×900. It is the safest option for listings that cap the largest side.
Why is my PNG not getting smaller?
PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not apply. Choose JPEG or WebP for photos if you want a big drop in file size — WebP usually wins on both size and quality.
Will enlarging improve my photo?
Enlarging adds pixels but not detail, and the file gets bigger. Above 4000 px the tool warns you. For print-ready work start from the largest original you have.
