Discount calculator FAQ
How do I calculate an after-discount price?
Multiply the original price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). For example, 25% off $120 is $120 × 0.75 = $90.
What does reverse price mean?
It can mean either finding the percentage from an original and sale price, or dividing the sale price by (1 − discount ÷ 100) to recover the original price. Both modes are included.
Why can’t a reverse discount be 100%?
A 100% discount means the sale price is zero, so the original price cannot be recovered from the sale price. Enter a rate below 100% for reverse-original calculations.
Does the result include sales tax?
No. The calculator compares the listed price and the discount only. Add tax afterward if your checkout applies it.
Is my price information stored?
No. The numbers stay in your browser and are recalculated locally as you type.
Can I use any currency?
Choose from ten common currencies. The formatting and decimal places adapt automatically, including yen’s zero decimal places.
