How it works
Four steps, no account, no upload — the whole job runs on your device.
PNG, JPG or WebP up to 15 MB. Anything over 4000 px is downscaled once, and images over 4000 px tell you so.
The background colour is read from the four corners, then every pixel within your tolerance is set to alpha 0. Edge feather softens the cut.
Tolerance slider, eyedropper for a different background colour, and a Manual cutout brush to erase or restore pixels pixel by pixel.
Export a true 32-bit RGBA PNG at full resolution, optionally trimmed to the subject's bounding box. The button shows the exact output size.

A gradient, vignette or unevenly lit backdrop cannot be matched by one colour. You will see a fringe: drop feather to 0, narrow the tolerance, then clean the edge with the Manual brush.
Hair, fur, trees and busy scenes need AI matting, which needs an ML model this tool deliberately does not ship. Switch to Manual cutout and paint the mask instead — it is slower, but it is real.
There is no upload step. Decoding, masking and PNG encoding all happen in your browser, so a confidential logo or signature never reaches a server.
The interactive preview is processed at up to 1500 px with a 120 ms debounce, so the tolerance slider stays smooth on a mid-range phone. The export renders at full size only when you download.
The download button is labelled with the real output dimensions and file size, so you know what you get before you commit. Trim crops to the visible subject.
Frequently asked questions
Is this background remover really free?
Yes — no sign-up, no credits, no watermark. Everything is computed locally, so there is no server cost to pass on to you.
Why is half my image gone?
The tolerance is too high and has matched your subject as well as the background. Drag the tolerance down, and hit Reset to defaults to start from 18%. The stat strip warns you when more than 98% of the pixels were removed.
The background is not one solid colour — now what?
One colour key cannot follow a gradient. Set Edge feather to 0, keep the tolerance tight, then switch to Manual cutout and paint away the leftover fringe with the Erase brush. Use Restore to recover anything you removed by mistake.
Can it cut out hair or fur?
No. Soft, wispy edges need an AI matting model, which this tool does not run. For photos of people, animals or foliage, use the Manual cutout brush and expect to spend a minute on the edges.
What are "auto-detected corners"?
On upload the tool samples four small squares in the corners of your image and averages them. That average becomes the background colour. If the corners disagree a lot it warns you, because that usually means an uneven backdrop.
Does the PNG keep real transparency?
Yes. The export is an RGBA PNG written by your browser's PNG encoder, so it drops straight into Canva, Figma, GIMP, Amazon or Flipkart listings with no white box behind it.
