How it works

FAQ
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool has no server endpoints at all — the image is decoded and re-encoded inside your browser tab. The only way it leaves is the download button.
Why can't I pick my HEIC iPhone photo?
Browsers cannot decode HEIC. In iOS go to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible, or share the photo as a JPG, then upload that.
I asked for 50 KB but got 50.something KB — why?
Portals count kilobytes differently. This tool reports the true byte size divided by 1024, which is the stricter reading; the encoder always returns the largest quality at or under your target, so it will never exceed it.
The file is still too big after quality search.
Some sizes simply cannot reach a KB limit — pixels are the real lever. Reduce the width and height (or choose a smaller preset) and the quality search will find room again.
Which size should I choose for a passport photo?
The passport preset is 3.5×4.5 cm at 300 dpi, i.e. 413×531 px, which is what Indian passport and most visa forms ask for. Exam and job portals usually ask for 200×230 px under 50 KB — use the stamp preset.
