Advanced: promoted listing ad rate & VAT
Rates are editable defaults for eBay UK's final-value-fee model (no store subscription). eBay changes fees and varies them by category and seller level — verify the current rate in your eBay account before you rely on the number.
Enter a sale price to see your payout.
Fee breakdown
Every fee eBay takes, in pounds and as a share of the total revenue you collect.
How it works
Three numbers and one formula — the same shape as an eBay UK invoice.
Item price plus the postage the buyer pays. That total is what eBay charges its percentage on.
Final value fee = rate × (item + postage), then the fixed per-order fee, then any promoted-listing ad fee.
Gross revenue minus every fee — the amount that reaches your bank, with the effective fee rate and margin alongside.
Working example: £25.00 item, free postage, 12.8% + £0.30 → final value fee £3.20, fixed fee £0.30, net payout £21.50 (14.0% effective fee rate).
FAQ
Are these eBay's real UK fees?
They are editable defaults that follow eBay UK's standard model: a percentage of the item plus postage, plus a small fixed fee per order. eBay changes rates and they differ by category, store level and seller type, so treat the number as a close estimate — never as live eBay data.
Why is postage included in the fee?
eBay charges its final value fee on the total the buyer pays, which includes postage and handling. So raising postage raises your fee bill too — put a real postage figure in and you will see the trade-off.
Private seller or registered business?
The maths is the same; only the rates differ. Set the percentage and fixed fee to the figures your account actually charges, and tick the VAT box if eBay adds 20% VAT on top of its fees to you.
What does the promoted ad rate do?
A promoted-listing ad rate is an extra percentage of the sale, charged on top of the final value fee. At high ad rates the net payout can go negative — the calculator shows the loss in red instead of hiding it.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The whole calculator runs in your browser with plain JavaScript — nothing is uploaded, stored or logged, and there is no sign-up.
How is the margin calculated?
Margin is net payout divided by gross revenue, so it shows what share of the buyer's money you keep before your own costs (sourcing, packing, actual postage labels).
